Strong Core is a back rehabilitation program offered through Pure Integrated Training. The program consist of three levels, Movement Foundations 1, 2 and 3. This program emphasizes the development of proper movement engrams, spinal stability and core strength and endurance. Often people suffering with back pain slowly withdraw from activity due to pain. This leads to people giving up activities they love, losing physical capacity for exercise and only furthering their pain. By teaching spine sparing movement strategies, relief positions and providing exercises to enhance spinal stability the program allows clients to move past their back pain while gaining an enhanced knowledge of how to prevent future occurrences.

What Does The Program Include?

Movement Foundations Level 1
Movement Foundations Level 1
Movement Foundations Level 1 focuses on posture, its role in back pain and how to establish a neutral position to reduce pain. It also focuses on education regarding pain triggers, how to avoid them, daily movement strategies and relief positions. Fundamental Movement 1 also contains an exercise portion. The exercises will be based off the clients initial assessment, but will include stretching, a walking program and core stability exercises. The emphasis will be on maintaining spinal stability. Each session will last between 15-40 minutes.
Movement Foundations Level 2
Movement Foundations Level 2
Movement Foundations Level 2 builds on the concepts from level 1 emphasising proper movement and pain sparing movement strategies. Emphasis is on developing whole body and joint stability and increasing muscular endurance. Exercise sessions will last between 30 and 60 minutes based on client capabilities. Goals for Fundament Movement 2 are:
• Build whole body and joint stability
• Increase endurance
Movement Foundations Level 3
Movement Foundations Level 3
This stage builds on levels 1 and 2 and focuses on building strength, power, speed and agility. This stage is optional and would be of most benefit to athletes, weekend warriors or people who have very labour intensive jobs (construction etc.) Exercise sessions will last 1 hour. Goals for Fundamental Movement 3 are:
• Build strength
• Develop speed, power and agility

Can Exercise Really Help Me Reduce My Pain?

Research has shown that exercise is effect in both reducing pain and improving recovery times in people suffering from low back pain. For example:

  • Exercise therapy that consists of individually designed programs, including stretching or strengthening, and is delivered with supervision may improve pain and function in chronic nonspecific low back pain.
